Essay from the year 2016 in the subject Communications - Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Social Media, grade: 1,0, The University of Hong Kong, language: English, abstract: The on-going process of technological innovation and expansion combined with a more and more fast-paced, dynamic and global world result in a slow take over of computers and artificial intelligence in fundamental human task areas. One example of how technological progress invades into our daily life is the invention of dating applications that enhance the search for a possible relationship partner by providing a distinct platform for people with similar purposes. Since the interaction on these platforms are simultaneous actions of a group of human beings that yield a specific result - getting to know possible partners - the situation can be analysed from a game theoretic perspective. During this paper I will firstly elaborate on the underlying assumptions of my model. Afterwards I am developing a formal framework that allows to explore the phenomenon from a rather objective and rational perspective. The quintessence of this setup is that the problem at hand can be identified as a repeated collective prisoners dilemma or an example of the tragedy of commons. In a final step I will provide several possible solutions to improve the efficiency of the analysed market / social interactions. Two of these approaches are very game theoretical, while I also included two more market-oriented approaches to provide a multidimensional perspective on the issue.
Dating can sometimes feel like you´re riding a roller coaster. It´s fast, it´s nerve-wracking and at some point you just want to get off! Sound familiar? For so many women, dating has become more like a race than a pursuit of love. You don´t want just any man - you want to find Mr. Right. But you have to sort through all the bad ones to get to him! It can feel exhausting. You swipe through countless pictures on dating apps, search through online profiles, connect with Facebook friends-of-friends-of-friends, Twitter followers, or even try a head-spinning four-minute speed date. If a man doesn´t seem good-looking enough, or tall enough, or funny enough from a first impression, it´s on to the next! While riding this kind of dating roller coaster may seem to be the best and fastest way to meet the right person, it doesn´t work. There is, however, a better way. In Kelly Seal´s new book Date Expectations: A Guide To Changing Your Dating Life And Finding Real Love, she examines how such anxious searching actually works against you. She explains several techniques to help you slow down your search and see how your subconscious habits create barriers to finding the right man, and having a shot at real love. You´ll learn the keys to more effective communication, which is at the very heart of meeting new people and relationship building. Date Expectations shows how you can shift your perspective in order to make finding that special someone not only more enjoyable, but significantly more possible. 1. Language: English. Barb and Janet were a couple...and then they werent. What now? They started a tentative relationship that led to sex a little too soon. Both shied away but their friends knew the two women belonged together. They conspired to put them together in a neutral place where they could talk it out and it worked. They talked. They started slow, with actually dating the second time around...but now what? Theyve both been shattered by love lost. Theyre both wary of getting deeply involved again. It doesnt help matters any when Barbs focus gets drawn away from her own happiness to tend to the needs of others. Janet tries to be understanding of Barbs need to be there for her family. She knows she loves the fiercely independent blonde but shes not so sure they belong together in a committed, long term sort of way, especially when her attempts to lend a hand from time to time seem to bring out more ire than gratefulness. Barbs dad and his health problems have her feeling years older than she already is. When she looks at the only slightly younger Janet, she sees the exuberance and inexperience of youth. She loves the curvy cop with her heart on her sleeve but shes afraid the younger woman too often leaps before she considers all of the consequences. What will it take to convince the two women that their personalities complement each other and that theyre a good match? Fans of the Morelville Mysteries mystery/romance series may recognize these two characters who played supporting roles in those books but this novel stands apart from those. Its a sequel to the novel Broken Women. You dont need to read that book to enjoy this one but, for all the back story that makes the two ladies who they are, the author highly recommends it.
